Course description
A comprehensive, practitioner-level course that equips participants to run an energy-management programme and conduct a basic energy audit. Four days of structured theory build the fundamentals β energy systems, regulation, auditing and analysis β and the fifth day puts it to work on a real site, where participants conduct a walk-through (Level 1) audit and produce a structured Level 1 energy audit report. The course is a simplified, accessible version of the in-depth programme Eenovators has delivered to large industrial facilities.
Who it's for
Energy managers, facility and maintenance engineers, sustainability officers and aspiring energy auditors.
What you'll be able to do
- Apply energy fundamentals and analyse facility energy and billing data.
- Plan and conduct a Level 1 walk-through audit aligned to ISO 50002 and ASHRAE Level 1.
- Identify and quantify energy-management opportunities across key systems.
- Apply basic Measurement & Verification (IPMVP) and savings / ROI calculations.
- Write a structured Level 1 energy audit report.
Course outline β 5 days (4 theory + 1 audit)
- Day 1 β Fundamentals. The energy landscape and the case for action Β· Energy Act 2019 and EMR 2025 Β· electrical basics; bill and tariff analysis (power factor, time-of-use).
- Day 2 β Energy systems. Motors and drives; pumping and fans Β· compressed air; lighting; HVAC Β· steam/thermal systems and refrigeration β efficiency measures.
- Day 3 β Auditing. The ISO 50002 audit process end-to-end Β· ASHRAE audit levels (1β3) Β· audit tools, instruments and data collection Β· energy balance and benchmarking (Energy Use Index).
- Day 4 β Analysis & reporting. Savings calculations and ROI Β· introduction to Measurement & Verification (IPMVP) Β· the energy audit report structure Β· introduction to monitoring and RETScreen.
- Day 5 β Walk-through audit (practical). On-site walk-through audit and data capture Β· identifying and quantifying opportunities Β· drafting the Level 1 energy audit report.
How it's taught: Structured theory with worked examples and an instruments demonstration, followed by a full-day supervised site audit and guided report writing. Assessed on a team-produced Level 1 audit report plus a knowledge assessment; participants receive an Eenovators Certificate of Completion.
