Course description
A hands-on course on how to see and use your energy data. Participants learn how to select and install energy-monitoring equipment, how to collect and validate data from it, and how to analyse that data to find savings — including the use of RETScreen, monitoring platforms such as Eagles and the ADM portal, and emerging AI tools. Monitoring is the single highest-leverage investment a facility can make, and this course turns raw meter readings into decisions, savings and EPRA-ready evidence.
Who it's for
Energy managers, instrumentation and electrical technicians, data analysts and facility engineers.
What you'll be able to do
- Specify and install energy-monitoring equipment — meters, CTs, data loggers and IoT gateways.
- Collect, store and validate energy data.
- Analyse data to find patterns, anomalies and savings (baselines, CUSUM, EnPIs).
- Use RETScreen and monitoring platforms (Eagles / ADM) for analysis and reporting.
- Apply AI and analytics for forecasting, anomaly detection and predictive maintenance.
Course outline — 2 days
- Day 1 — Metering & data. Why monitor — the business and compliance case · meter types and sensors: CTs, power meters, data loggers, IoT devices · installation and wiring safety · communication protocols (Modbus, MQTT) and setting up data collection · data quality and validation.
- Day 2 — Analysis, RETScreen & AI. Building dashboards and KPIs (Eagles / ADM portal) · baselines, regression and CUSUM analysis · energy analysis with RETScreen · AI in energy: anomaly detection, demand/tariff forecasting, predictive maintenance, energy copilots · turning data into action and EPRA evidence.
How it's taught: A hands-on meter set-up demonstration, a live dashboard lab, a RETScreen exercise and an AI use-case walk-through using real facility data. Assessed on a practical exercise plus a short data-analysis mini-project; participants receive an Eenovators Certificate of Completion.
